Chad Downs

Chad is a nationally recognized educator dedicated to fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments where every student feels safe and valued. He believes that rich learning experiences should not be confined to the classroom but extend to the home and community, providing students with opportunities to connect their learning to real-world contexts. His teaching philosophy centers around offering authentic learning choices, empowering students to become self-directed learners who take ownership of their education. Through cooperative group participation, Chad encourages collaboration and the development of important social and emotional skills. In his classroom, students know their voices matter, and their input is not only welcomed but seen as essential to the learning process. He is passionate about creating a space where each student can thrive, grow, and discover their full potential.

Chad understands that individual teachers bring their own personalities and experiences to their classrooms. His students, their families, and his colleagues know he enjoys spending time with diverse groups of people and creating meaningful connections. He also loves his family, friends, finding adventure outdoors while backpacking or fly fishing, and likes playing and coaching pickleball.
